New season commencing soon
23 Jan 2018 by Paul Dashwood
With the first month of the year nearly over and most people having returned from holidays, it’s time to gear up for a new season of racing. Many members have yet to renew licences, as is often the case with financial and other distractions over the Christmas and New Year period. Now that is all behind us it is time to head on over to the Cycling Australia website to renew that licence, as without it racing is not possible. As the current membership list stands, it would not be worthwhile setting up for a race.
As it is now, the calendar is scheduled to commence on Sunday February 4th with the first of a series of 4 Criterium races alternating with the Bairnsdale Club. The opening race will be held at Newry, commencing at 9:30 am, with the second race to be held at Lindenow the following Sunday (11th), also at 9:30am. The third race will be at Newry on the 25th February and the final Criterium will be at Lindenow on the 4th March. The plan for the season is to align our calendar as much as possible with Bairnsdale’s to increase the pool of riders available to race and hopefully have more competitive racing. With new and returning RAAF members the potential is certainly there, so if you want to take part in what promises to be some exciting racing- sign up now!
