As you are all no doubt aware, membership to a club with Cycling Australia affiliation is required before a cyclist can race at club races (or inter club, state, national etc). The membership fee covers Cycling Australia membership, race insurance and a small component goes to the club. In the past membership renewal has been on a calendar year basis, expiring on the 31st December each year. THIS HAS NOW CHANGED. Membership is on a rolling 12 month basis, ie a 12 month membership expires 12 months after renewal. Hence membership taken out on the 1st July will expire on the 30th June the following year. BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE. Monthly membership options are available- so for those who find shelling out a few hundred dollars in one go a bit onerous, or for those who don’t want to or can’t race the whole year, shorter term options are now available to spread or reduce the cost. Now has never been a better time to sign up, if you want to give racing a try or want to return to racing but can’t commit yourself to a whole year.
For those that have taken out or renewed membership on line before, be aware that the whole process is a bit different and requires the one time set up of an account with Cycling Australia’s payment provider. It appears that the membership will also auto-renew by default unless cancelled
